“homage to all the men I’ve ever loved - especially Barry, whom I’ve never met.”
Two years ago, my world fell apart. I’m still in the unmaking of a marriage - in the thick of divorce. As part of my rebuild, I’m using this residency as a process of reflection through material and memory.
It’s a way of picking through the wreckage of past relationships - not just lovers, but sculptors, the men who helped me understand what form could hold.
I’m thinking about impossibility and memory - how things hold each other up or are interconnected - the actual and the insurmountable.
This is a homage - tender, but not without ambivalence - to all the men l’ve loved, who, in some ways, have been my best teachers.
I’m using Eugenio Espinoza’s drawings as a catalyst for this residency, and for our upcoming exhibition “in-a-gadda-da-vida” at the Auction House, Redruth. Some of his works are included here.
🫶 PV - Fri 13th 6-8pm & Open - Sat 14th 11-3pm June.
